*Must download the drivers Intel provided from the above link. We tried to use the supplied Lenovo drivers that were on the lappy, which would not work.

I then rebooted and installed the drivers and software in the order as Intel stated (SKIPPING THE HD DRIVERS). Then REMOVE your current Intel 6200 drivers. NO VGAįYI: in order to make it work on Intel 6200, you must download the software and drivers that are located in the above post. The screen for the upcoming presentation is quite new and we are forced to use hdmi or component ports. It's a nice feature to know you have, especially since there is no HDMI on this business lappy. Wish Lenovo would disclose this in their forums or documentation or atleast let the tech support people know. We were able to watch a clip and do a dual display on a monitor using the netgear push2TV.

I had no choice, since we have a salesman needing it for an upcoming presentation and it appears no one knows whether it works on the standard x201. It does! Stopped off to staples and tried it out at lunch today. Ok, for those that may wonder if the WIDI 1.0 works on the standard x201. Found info on the x201i, but nothing for x201. It's hard to believe that Lenovo has no information regarding the WIDI and standard x201. Hate to go buy a WIDI adapter, just to try it. Looks like it makes the search and finds no compatible adapters near by (because there is none) Don't want to show up somewhere for a presentation trying to use a WIDI montior and it not work. But, we don't have a local WIDI monitor to try it out on. I now have the software installed and setup to search for a WIDI receiver through the intell 6200 on a 540M.

new CPU, chipset and so on.įor Miracast-compatibility in Intel-based (WiDi) systems you need an Intel CPU, Chipset and an Intel WiFi chip.Has anyone tried the Intel WIDI on a thinkpad? It appears that the specs for WIDI are met in a few of our X201's we have.

Because your machine is Surface Pro - components are modern, i.e. since Intel has adopted Miracast for WiDi 4. Regarding the Intel WiDi to Miracast legacy:įrom a hardware point of view. A temporary bug during preview of 8.1 I guess. In my case Play(To) did not work in WinRT yet. Hit Win+K > Devices > Play > Your Miracast Device The picture of the video queue should appear on the display associated with the Digital Media Render (i.e. Video file > PlayTo > Your Miracast DeviceĦ) The video feed appears on the remote display.

Add it to your devices.Ĥ) The Miracast device now registers under a (new) group "Play devices" in PC Settings > PC & Devices > Devices Probably also stated as uncertified by Microsoft. more qualified info)ģ) Your Miracast device should show by some name and as a type of Digitial Media Render, (You can also go to Control Panel > Printer and Devices - and add it from here. your remote display, smart blu-ray player, Miracast adapter etc.Ģ) Goto PC Settings > PC & Devices > Devices > Add a device Try it out.ġ) Try turning on your Mirascast device, i.e. So does Surface Pro or any other Win8.1 capable computer with Wireless LAN support Miracast? Guess so. we just need a Wi-Fi Direct connection to carry the Miracast "signal". but I can not see why Microsoft should restrict to only Intel components for general Play/PlayTo support

This is a general answer - not just for Surface Pro: In case of Windows 8.1 - I do not know whether Microsoft did a more hardware independent implementation than Intel (WiDi 4 supported Miracast).
